OIS asked incoming students, before they arrived on campus, what they were most excited about regarding their future in Pittsburgh and at Pitt. "I've loved Pitt since 4th grade so I'm excited about everything (maybe not much about homework). Most of all, I'm excited to learn more languages and cultures and eat lots of good Chinese food!"
"A huge diversity in faculty interests that allow me to explore the direction I would like to pursue a PhD in."

“As a cyclist and with my previous experience with road construction, I am particularly interested in Pavement Design course. And Transportation Engineering will solve my previous confusion at work. I wish to learn which factors should be taken into account when doing transportation engineering. I hope to feel the great air in Pittsburgh and look around by bike.”

“I am very impressed by Pitt’s 42-story skyscraper, Cathedral of Learning. I am very excited to study inside such a high building. In addition, I have great interest in the museums in the city. I can’t wait to visit the famous Andy Warhol Museum! Thinking of visiting these spectacular places, meeting my new schoolmates, and starting my brand new college life etc., I feel extremely excited.
