Hello, Pitt Faculty and Staff!

The Office of International Services works with faculty and staff across the Pitt campuses in a number of ways.

International Employees

If you are looking for information about being a Pitt international employee, please visit our International Employees page.

Department Administrators

The primary group of staff OIS coordinates with is Department Administrators who submit requests in My OIS for Pitt-sponsored employees, interns, and visiting scholars.  We do also have different Admissions offices across campus submitting information on new students.  These requests and applications are submitted in My OIS.  You can learn more on this Tour of My OIS for Department Administrators.  If you need to request access to My OIS, please log-in with your Pitt username and password.  You will be asked to submit a Department Access request and an OIS staff member will review your request within a few days.  The requests submitted by Department Administrators go to different OIS staff members.

In addition to New Administrator Trainings (typically presented on the last Thursday of the month from 11am - 12pm), OIS hosts monthly Symposium events.  The Symposium events include a monthly Lunch Series on a variety of topics, an annual Symposium conference in October, and an annual appreciation event in March.

Finally, OIS sends monthly OIS Connect emails with pertinent immigration updates to all Department Administrators.

Academic Advisors

Another group that frequently works with OIS is Academic Advisors working with international students.  There are several immigration regulations that dictate what enrollment and employment options are available to international students that are more stringent than domestic students.  The OIS Student Team works to educate Advisors on these differences and help to navigate challenging situations with the Advisors to best assist our students.

All Pitt Faculty and Staff

Finally, OIS works with all Pitt faculty and staff through our Outreach and Training programs.  OIS offers several training sessions through the Faculty Staff Development Program (FSDP) on Intercultural Competency, Cross-Cultural Communication, and the Life of an International Visitor.  In addition, OIS provide Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) consultations for individuals and departments.  All faculty and staff are also welcome to attend our Symposium events and to request special training sessions for their departments or students.  If you are interested in learning more about our Outreach and Training programs, please contact Kati Von Lehman.
