Experience America is a series of events and activities offered to visiting scholars, their families, and graduate students with dependents to help them better understand the American culture. The program is designed to introduce participants to campus and the local community. Below is a list of events which we have regularly hosted through the years. The tentative schedule for the upcoming will be available in September on our Events page. Times and dates will become available as program plans are finalized. Registration is required for each session but most sessions are at no cost to participants. We hope to see you there!

Fall 2023 Lunch and Learns

American Football

Learn the basic rules for American football so that you can better appreciate the Pitt Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Field Trips

Pitt Homecoming Football Game versus Louisville

The Office of International Services and The Vice Provost for Graduate Studies invite the Pitt International Community to the Pitt Homecoming football game! Tickets will be available to purchase at the WPU Box Office starting September 27 for $15 and are for the Upper Sidelines section of the stadium.  Tickets are limited to international graduate students, scholars, and families.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO): Holiday Pops Concert

The PSO will be performing their annual Holiday Pops concert joined by the Mendelssohn Choir and a special guest from the North Pole to bring all the Christmas holiday favorite music.  This concert is a Pittsburgh holiday tradition, and we hope you can join us.  Tickets are reserved for international graduate students, scholars, and their families; if you are an undergrad and would like to join us, please email Kati Von Lehman and she will let you know if there are remaining tickets on December 11.  This event will be Sensory Friendly, which means there will be special accommodations during the performance to make it more accessible to everyone, such as fidget toys, a quiet room, hearing protection, and an ASL interpreter.  You can purchase your tickets at the WPU Ticketing Office for $5 from December 1 – 15, Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm.  Transportation is not provided, but there are several buses directly from campus to Heinz Hall.

Andy Warhol Museum

The Andy Warhol Museum is the largest museum in North America dedicated to a single artist. The Andy Warhol Museum holds the largest collection of Warhol’s artworks and archival materials. During our trip, we will participate in the "Warhol's Artistic Practice: Collecting, Collaborating, Reproducing, Documenting, and Experimenting" guided tour throughout the museum. You can purchase your tickets at the WPU Ticketing Office for $5 from January 31 – February 9, Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm. Transportation is not provided, but there are several buses directly from campus to the museum.
