INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS OFFICER
Genny M . Paker is an International Admissions Officer in the Office of International Services (OIS) at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt). In her role as International Admissions Officer, Genny reports to the Assistant Director for Admissions and is responsible for:
- Evaluating foreign educational credentials of applicants to undergraduate, graduate, and first professional degree programs who have had education outside of the United States in order to determine the comparability of their credentials with the U.S. educational system;
- Verifying the authenticity of a wide variety of educational documents from countries throughout the world;
- Interfacing with, and serving as liaison to, various administrative and academic units throughout the University to provide information and to respond to inquiries regarding a wide range of topics related to international admissions, including inquiries regarding foreign education credential evaluations and determinations made by OIS, matters relating to English language proficiency, and much more;
- Meeting with students and prospective applicants regarding their educational background and their admission to the University, to review original academic documents in order to comply with conditions or provisions stipulated in their admission decision, or for a wide range of other purposes;
- Utilizing the appropriate resources to research educational systems in other countries, including documentation of the recognition status of institutions in other countries, in order to determine that the educational standards of the University of Pittsburgh and the specific academic school/department are met;
- Coordinating with other functional units with OIS, particularly the Immigration Services unit; and
- Working on special projects as assigned.
Genny is the primary liaison to the following schools/departments at the University concerning international admissions issues for international undergraduate, graduate, and exchange students:
NOTE: Questions regarding immigration laws and regulations, and related University processes and procedures, should be directed to the appropriate staff member in the OIS Immigration Services unit.

Biography
Prior to joining the Office of International Services, Genny spent three years working as a student admissions coordinator for Boston University.
Genny holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University in International Relations with a minor in French language and literature. She has recently returned from a year in France where she interned as a translator for a non-governmental organization.
