SOCIAL SECURITY TRIPS

Welcome to the United States and the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt)!

The Office of International Services (OIS) is pleased to offer escorted trips to the Social Security Administration (SSA) office in East Liberty for newly arrived international students and scholars who are eligible to apply for a Social Security Number.

Due to possible delays in the information sharing system between the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Social Security Administration, you should not sign up for a trip or otherwise apply for a Social Security card until you have been in the US at least 10 days. Please choose from one of the dates below to sign up.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Before signing up for a trip, please go to http://www.ois.pitt.edu/pdf/SSNInfo.pdf and review the eligibility requirements and the application process for obtaining a Social Security Number, including what documents are required.  PLEASE READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY. Once you have determined that you are eligible and have gathered all required documentation, including the Application for a Social Security Card (download at http://www.socialsecurity.gov/online/ss-5.html) and a letter from OIS (if required), you may sign up for one of the trips to the Social Security Administration office.

Trips are available on the following dates:
