History of OIS Programming

Updated 7/12/2005

The Programming Section was established in 2002 to expand the services of the office in order to more fully meet the orientation, cultural and social needs of international students and scholars. Through the Section's various initiatives, the OIS staff members are better connected to the international community at Pitt. Moreover, with the increased network with individuals and groups, it makes the OIS more accessible by the international students and scholars as well as the University offices at large.

Goals

OIS Programming Goals:

    1. Organizes orientation, cultural, and social programs that equip international students and scholars to succeed in their adjustment to Pitt, Pittsburgh, and US culture.
    2. Provides opportunities for communication, engagement and exchange among international students and scholars and between international students and scholars and members of the greater University community.
    3. Collaborates with departments, offices and institutions within and outside the University in order to facilitate a more comprehensive network of resources and services to internationals at the University
