- Premium Processing Service Resumed for USCIS Form I-140
Effective June 29, 2009 USCIS has resumed premium processing for Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, for the following categories: EB-1 Aliens with Extraordinary Ability, EB-1 Outstanding Professors and Researchers, EB-2 Members of Professions with Advanced Degrees or Exceptional Ability not seeking a National Interest Waiver, EB-3 Professionals, EB-3 Skilled Workers, and EB-3 Workers other than Skilled Workers and Professionals. If you have a Pitt-sponsored I-140 on file and would like to request a premium processing upgrade in your case, please contact your Immigration Specialist in OIS.
- New International Scholar Check-In & Orientation
Effective Friday, February 6, 2009, new international scholars in J-1 visa status will be required to attend a Check-In & Orientation session in the Office of International Services (OIS). The sessions will be held every Friday, except when the University is closed, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in the OIS Conference Room (700 William Pitt Union) for any J-1 scholar who arrived that week. - Visa Waiver Program
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) has undergone some important changes, including the addition of new countries to the program and the requirement for VWP passengers to obtain pre-travel authorization through an electronic screening system called the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) starting January 12, 2009. - State Department Requires On-Line Visa Waiver Application
Effective February 1, 2009, J-1 Visa Waiver applicants will be required to type and complete the J-1 Visa Waiver Recommendation Application form DS 3035 online. Applicants will no longer be able to download the form to complete it manually. More info…
